Natural extract of the resin of the Champa tree.
The ingredient that distinguishes and gives name to Nag Champa incense is the Champa extract, mixed with a resin known as halmadi, from the bark of a tree of the laurel family, called Ailanthus Malabarica.
Champa is considered a sacred flower throughout Southeast Asia, which is why Nag Champa incense sticks (agarbatti) are burned on every altar in India. Also, the Champa flower tree is planted near all the temples in India and Nepal.
